A spice mix often used for different meats
The ingredients for baharat:
- 20 gram paprika;
- 10 gram cinnamon powder;
- 15 gram cardamom; peeled
- 15 gram cumin;
- 15 gram coriander seeds;
- 5 cloves;
- 15 black peppercorns;
How to make baharat?
- Roast the paprika, the cinnamon powder, the cardamom, the cumin, the coriander seeds, the clove and the black peppercorn in a frying pan without any oil for about 2 minutes. Make sure you don't burn it, you just want the flavors to come out. You should be able to smell when it's done
- Crush the paprika, the cinnamon powder, the cardamom, the cumin, the coriander seeds, the cloves and the black peppercorns in a blender or a mortar; using a mortar will give a more authentic structure to the result.
- Your result is ready for further use.
